Too young :-(

Two tragedies in the past few days..have been weighing heavily on my heart..

Too young
Too young
It makes you numb
You hear it again and again

But at the end of the day
She was too young
She was a little girl
He had so many years
So many years
Unlived
So fragile we are
11 years
18 years
Another young body
Thrown into the mass grave
Of our memory
Of our conscious

We’re not built to endure such pain
My pampered brain
Cannot imagine the sorrow
Of this void and empty tomorrow

A parent forced to endure the unendurable
A stretched heart forced to prove how durable

So..we whisper..
And we tsk
And we promise to be better

But at the end of the day

He was so young
Someone’s world

She
was
just
a

little girl

Someone's
little
girl

:-(

Wow. So very sad and to the point. You reminded me of a levaya of a young girl that I attended a few years back, around this same time of year. The girl was the same age as my own child. How could I not stand there and reflect? BH that's not me up there. But what about him, nebach, what he must be going through. SO SAD......

Beautifully said. It's times like those that we wonder why.

There's not much to add here..
Thank you for your heartfelt comments. It's just something that need to be internalized..how fragile we are..how every moment is precious...
and how we need to appreciate our children each and every day.

The fundamental difference in your analogy..is...
in the anaogy it's a human talking...and in reality..its God the God that created you me..everything and whose mind encompasses all..and who is all good.

I was going to say your poem was beautiful, but then I thought, how can I say that? how can I say that anything having to do with death is beautiful? Death is unapologetically UGLY.

Poetically sad, but remember: only the living mourn the dead.

I still cry....

Interestingly..I did a post a few months back..where I note that the only time we find beauty in death is when the leaves die in the autumn...

lvsm and LV..
sad indeed..beyond words

FG..
It is for the living that I write...

You speak of the loss of their potential that is why I say that. Perhaps their tafkid was fulfilled and in that case BH they are where we all want to be - next to the shechina.
