One last glance...

In honor of Pesach here's a post from 3 years ago that I love...Have a Chag Kosher V'Sameach

“Tashuri MeRosh Emunah..” Shir HaShirim
The Midrash says that there is a mountain on the northern border of Eretz Yisroel called Emunah. Just before we enter Eretz Yisroel for the final time we will stop there and sing one last song..our last song in exile....

On a hilltop..
Pre-dawn..
Looking into the distance..
A signal has been given..
The eastern winds are picking up..
Soon it’ll be time to go..
Give me a moment..please
Let me glance back
One more time
Let me remember
The hard times
The lonely times
When it was just me and you..
When it was sooo so hard..
Beaten
Seduced
Mocked
My hand firmly in yours
Warm..
Secure..
All we had was faith..
And now I look across the border
in disbelief
Tired eyes adjusting
The hills are dancing..
The whole universe is waiting
For us..
Let me glance back
One more time
I’ll miss our special time..
When it was just me and you..
I’ll miss you..
Galus

Now..let's go...

Never heard that midrash before, but it's sending my writing juices into gear also... thanks.

I'm not sure I get the message of your poem, though.

Dreamer-- amen.

Thanks

lvnsm..
it sure will...

Towik and everyone else...
The Midrash Rabbah is Shmos 23..the poem is based on an interpreation of that midrash by the Belzer Rebbe..who explains that when Moshiach comes there will be such clarity..and the whole world will do Hashems will..just before we enter that world of perfection we'll look back with a tinge of sadness at the days when all we had was Emunah...when all we had was Hashem and all Hashem had..was us..

dreamer..

that was so incredible - the writing, music, image, mood, message..
though i only think we will fully appreciate it after it happens.

in the time that the whole world will be filled with intimate knowledge of Hashem, we will finally be able to understand the real value of galus...
it is such a deep, powerful message..
if only we could grasp it completely and take full advantage now, making the most of our time here..
may it end speedily in our days!

Thank you - you can see from the comments that this poem made us feel it - the closeness to Hashem we have in galus.
Look at how much it moved your readers - Can't you write things like this where more people will see them? I don't know where - Aish (start a poetry section! I think that would go over well), Jewish newspapers, Jewish magazines?

Thanks, the explanation really helped.

And yes, though the writing is nice as usual, the music really makes this post work. I can't get over how perfect it is.
