Beware the Issuemakers

Beware the issuemakers
You know who they are
Those that seek..shall find
Small quirks..and
Shall furiously spin....
For some imaginary Rumpelstilskin
And churn out issues..issues
Co-workers, friends, spouses...strangers
Those that create towering mountain ranges
In their mind
Only to find
It too difficult
To catapult
To pass
Their vast
Vast peaks
yet find it impossible
To vanquish
Make vanish
Their issues..
I watch from the side
Amused
Confused
Why?

Just
Just chilllll
Let the mole hill
Be

.

Good one!

Whenever I go to my in-laws for shabbos, there's always a THING about EVERYTHING.

"Why are there mushrooms in the salad?"

"You know Baila hates mushrooms."

"Oh, the dressing's a little tangy. Should we add sugar?"

"Sugar to the dressing? What about maple syrup? Hey, why are there mushrooms in there? Baila hates mushrooms."

"I know! And why'd you use plain romaine??"

sigh...

Well I think we need to show some understanding.
If you said 15 times you don't like mustard on the meta, they really ought to keep that in mind!

Wouldn't a club of issue breakers be in a sence just issue makers of their own? I can't say I'm a huge issue maker, but I can definitely say I love to listen...I know a little bit about a little of everything but keep my mouth zipped.

Just for the record.
There are "issue makers", whose goals are to complain and criticize.
But there are “issue raisers", whose goals are to improve.

What? You mean just be buoyed along on the seas of life? Not me, man! Not in this lifetime! Where's the fun in being a Medaber, if you're just gonna let life treat you stam a tzohmeyach or a chai?

I like your last line - "let the molehill be"

Just on the mark.

I find, too, that some things become problematic because someone made it into an issue. Once it has become a mountain, you often can't fall back and say it's a molehill. You gotta deal with it as the issue it has become. I think people neglect to see this and want to make what was once a non-issue into a non-issue once more, even though nothing has been resolved.

Chavera sums it up well - lol

I sometimes sit entertained by people like that, and wonder if their lives are so boring that they've got to make issues over everything..
OR
that they are so narrowminded that seeing something that's a little out of their scope causes waves of thoughts they cannot cope with and have to express!

That's one of MY issues. Once I start something, it's difficult for me to stop...

I was recently thinking about this about how sometimes people are so dramatic about things. I understand that they feel annoyed but I feel like saying chill. Life is more enjoyable when we chill out.

exactly...
I was just telling someone..you have 2 options right now..you can either turn this into an issue and be all stressed out...or let it go..and have a martini..
Why would you pick the first option?

February 13, 2007 8:31 AM
Blogger the dreamer said...

david - why would some do that?
precisely because of the reason that it's hard to let go, to change one's thoughts.

I just noticed that the period at the end of the poem is spaced away from all else.

I like the effect.
