True Love

from prev blog

L’cha Dodi...Likraas Kalah
Every week...I dance for you
I dance with joy
I dance with shame
Every week you find me
Laying in the mud
You lift me
Embrace me
My mind cannot fathom
So my heart takes over..
Your love
Your love for me
As you take me in you arms
I hold you
Mold you to me
You hold me...kiss me
A tear escapes from
My heart
As I whisper..
It’s you I love
You’re my one and only
You whisper back..I know..I know
And hold me tighter still
I try to commit to memory
The sweetness of your lips
The scent of roses
I look into your eyes and I promise
I promise to love you and no other
Please let me feel you this intensely
Every minute...every moment
Hoping deep down
That you won’t have to come looking for me
Next week..
That I won’t have to avert my eyes
In shame
As you lift me from the mud...into your arms..

Good Shabbos

Are you sure you're really a guy? I can't imagine my husband thinking this, let alone writing it! (although I do love him!)

u do?

its alot of mental preparation..
easier for a guy I think...going to the mikva..saying kabbalas shabbos...singing..slowly letting go of the week....

now my gender is in question?
I think alot of guys feel it..they just cant express it.
frum people in general are hesitant to express such deep emotion in such stark terms..and thats reflected in our subpar literature and music..

ah, singing...
yeah, i can't always sing when there are male guests around.
i only love shabbos when i can sing.. :)

now that i think about it, maybe you're not a guy...
'cept that macho post throws it off...

When you're an anonymous blogger, your gender is always in question!

Funny thing is, on the rare occasion my hub has the time to write, his literature is far from subpar. I just can't imagine him writing something like this...

Wow, Dave.
You almost give R' Shlomo Alkabetz a run for his money. Thanks again.
Can I copy it?

Looks like i opened a can of worms... sorry! lol
Like I said, my hub rarely writes but he's written a couple of deep stuff - he's actually one of the few who came went through the yeshiva system and somehow knows how to speak and write really well. It's not that he's not emotional - I guess I just don't see a lot of guys that feel that way about Shabbos per se. Unfortunately, many people who go through the yeshiva/by system don't feel that extra special love for most things in Judaism the way we all should. Although, I do try!
Ok, my comment is long enough to be a post at this point! Maybe I should start a blog..hmm.. And btw, I realized why I like you so much - we are both big fans of dots.. and the 2 dot thing is so my thing.. Why use 3 when u can say it just as well with 2..

allie - why use two when you can say it just as well with one?

and david - don't talk to me about the dots. i'm mad at you.

I used to love Shabbos so much, I think I still do but I have made too many compromises... but it really is all in the preparation.

Dreamer -- haven't done it in a while, but when I can't sing at the table I sing in my room. It's my private time with Shabbos.

Yes..that is certainly true..there should be more emphasis on the penimius of doing things.. those much in fact that I devoted a post to them a few mnths back...

me?..what did i do?

Blogger David_on_the_Lake said...

what kind of compromises?
Yes alot of it is in the preperation...but it can suddenly wash over u as well...even if u come in straight from the mud..

thats nice..
Depends on who I'm with..I have friends that I avoid on shabbos..and others that uplift me..
