well, to tell you the truth, i love them both, and i think i tell them both an equally that three letter phrase. yeah, it used to be more difficult, but when someone gives you that sense of security and knowledge that they love you, you don't have trouble giving over that sense of love towards others, even if they're not the one who loved you in the first place.
towik.. hmm I guess it's not true for everyone.. I was playing with my 3 yr old..and saying over and over..I love you..and I noticed how harder it is to say it to my older children..and parents.. And then I noticed how the more shallow the realtionship the easier it is..as well..
allie... I have a very hard time saying it to my father...my mother i sorta mumble it.. My wife..depends when and where.. I definitely find it easier to write it than to say it as well...
I'm wondering, though, if it's because after saying it so freely to those who don't understand (eg. little kids) and the various media in which it is blared across the world, it just becomes too cheap to express our feelings to those we love more deeply.
i think that we use it more freely when kids are younger, but that it means more to those who are older. and if we would just say it over and over again, it may become a little meaningless...
so i don't know whether it's "easy" or "hard" but rather, how OFTEN we use the expression...
Bas-M Hmm never thought of that. so basically it has a dual meaning..one general term of endearment...and another much deeper expression.. Has anyone come up with a better term?

Thanks for re-affirming my (semi) normalcy..while Dreamer gives me a complex..

Dreamer..
You find it easier to look your mother in the eye and say I love you..than your 4 year old nephew?
hmmm... now that you put it that way...

does that make any sense to you, oh complex soul?
Theres no question that to those that have no clue what it means..it rolls off our lips alot easier..
at first I thought I disagreed..
but now hearing you explain it..
perhaps you are right
(gonna clue me into this post's trigger?)
:-p
well how about you gotta trust to love
I have a hard time saying it to my mother.. but not to my husband... So I'm not sure that is has to do with understanding what it means.
