"The Emperor Has No Clothes" is often used in political and social contexts for any obvious truth denied by the majority despite the evidence of their eyes, or as I say "Its mind over matter- if you have no mind it just doesnt matter

does a tree falling in the forest make a sound as it falls?

it matters to the emperor. because in the end, he IS without clothing. and the worst thing is when one doesn't respect himself.

The emperor's subjects try to keep up the illusion they see something. It's not just an expression, it's the moral of a fairy tale.

No, it doesn't matter.
But the big Q: of what is this context you draw?

I keep wondering which part of the world you are pointing to. But maybe it is the condition most are prone to--we see what we want to see and by doing so, create our own kings...emperors; this is your point.

Yes. The Emperors new Clothes is one of the greatest parables ever.
This idea that a false idea can be propogated and held aloft just by the sheer complicitness of the public until its almost accepted as fact. Yet so fragile that if even a little child yells out.."hey, he has no clothes.." it comes crubling to the ground.
But if all his subjects are blind then the latter part doesn't happen...and the Emperor rides merrily along..

Oh..I don't want to get into specifics but it pertains to many dynamics in our community..where stupidity born perhaps of noble intentions rules the day..and the emperor strolls along naked...yet secure in the knowledge that his subjects are blind..

Cool analogy.
I remember contemplating this when I was all of about 7...

I think it applies to so many different cases in life, but each situation has a different answer---sometimes it makes no difference that he's indeed unclothed, but other times the whole ikkar is the lack of sight and then nothing else makes a difference...
