Nostalgic overload
picture was taken a few years ago in upstate NY
swept downstream
Down my river of tears
Swept along the years
Powerful beat..
Sad refrain..
Joyful chorus
So tired..
Resigned to fate
Love
Hug me again
Let me cry
Let me dance
Let me feel every moment
Again
To submit to every sight..scent..sound
Embrace me
Embrace every moment
In every lifetime
Sweep me along
Eyes closed
submitting
My lifes chorus
Let me see those faces again
Those I miss
Best friends
Strangers
Grandparents...that hugged me
Before they died
Let me hear that song again
On the old grey taperecorder
Let me feel that emotion
That joy
That little boy
So tired
Swept downstream
The Michtav MiEliyahu explains that a persons soul has millions of facets that are revealed to us as moments in our lives.
So nostalgic feelings are not just nostalgic feelings, they're yearnings for fragments of our souls that we can never have back..

we can have them back...if we want to
This is so true-- sometimes I feel like a giant puzzle with the pieces scattered in all directions and a few dreaming at the bottom of a lagoon. Now if someone would just return the corner of my right eye (it's a missing piece to all who have not had coffee)I could find them
It's got me blue-- missing pieces, lost time
Nice picture... who would've known that there's actually beauty to be found in NYS??
Wow
interesting, does that go for dejavu too? fragments of our soul reminding us?
great poem, and great picture.
Sometimes when I hear a certain song or smell something, I'm hit so hard with a flood of memories from forever ago, it actually hurts. I guess that's my sould yearning...
powerfull...sometimes i just want to go back into the past to correct mistakes... say the things i should have said... take back the words i should not have said alloud... hug those i miss... fight for what i lost...

I can barely manage my own life, and now you tell me I'm living for many?????
Reminds me of the Jackie Mason routine, where he is contemplating looking for the "real" him.
ugh i hate that i can relate to this so much..life could be so much more pleasant if we live each moment to its fullest and then let them to rest when the moment passed..
i dont want to yearn for fragments of my soul that are gone.. i wanna live out those existing right now..
Sad.

Its only natural to yearn for times past...for feelings..after all when we think back we tend to filter out the negatives anyhow..
stacey...
well...not really sad...strong nostalgia..while it tugs at the heart and can even prompt tears...is not neccesarily sad..or bad
